Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing residents with routine daily nursing care in a long-term care setting, following established nursing procedures and supervisor directives. The role involves assisting residents with activities of daily living, supporting the nursing team, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients during night shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Assist residents with routine activities of daily living, including hygiene, feeding, mobility, and positioning.
• Perform range of motion exercises and provide skin care.
• Collect patient data and specimens such as urine, stool, and sputum.
• Obtain and record vital signs, including pulse oximetry and pain assessments.
• Communicate patient status and report changes to licensed nursing staff.
• Perform designated patient care procedures such as incentive spirometry and oxygen therapy setup.
• Assist with patient transport and preparation for diagnostic tests.
• Maintain and clean equipment and prepare rooms for admission and discharge.
• Provide post-mortem care as needed.
• Assist nurses in emergency situations.
• Perform clerical duties including answering unit phones, data entry, and coordinating supplies.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR certification at hire.
• Ability to perform physical tasks related to patient care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in long-term care or similar healthcare environments.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to work independently during night shifts.

Special Considerations:

• Position requires working night shifts in a long-term care facility.
• Must be able to work effectively in a team-oriented, patient-centered environment.
• Compliance with all nursing care procedures and facility policies is mandatory.

Scheduling:

• Night shift schedule.
• Shift assignments and hours determined by facility needs and supervisor direction.
