Job Description

Role Description

The Credentialing Specialist serves as a subject matter expert (SME) responsible for the execution of credentialing processes in support of Nava’s state and federal programs. This role requires an active or obtainable Secret clearance and demonstrated experience executing credentialing within state and/or federal government contracting environments. The Credentialing Specialist ensures the timely, audit-ready management of credentialing operations, aligning with contract-specific requirements and stringent government standards, and operates with a high degree of autonomy – partnering with program leadership, identifying risks, and driving operational improvements. This is a specialized, hands-on role focused on credentialing within regulated government environments, including onboarding, verification, ongoing maintenance and renewals, offboarding, and compliance.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the primary credentialing subject matter expert and internal escalation point across state and federal contracts
  • Interpreting and applying contract-specific, state, and federal credentialing requirements in day-to-day operations
  • Executing credentialing activities within government systems and portals, including initiating and managing credentialing workflows
  • Partnering with Program Managers, People Operations, and external stakeholders (e.g., CORs) to ensure requirements are clearly understood and met
  • Independently resolving complex or high-risk credentialing issues
  • Leading the design, standardization, and continuous improvement of credentialing SOPs across contracts
  • Ensuring SOPs reflect state, federal, and audit requirements
  • Aligning SOPs with program and contract requirements
  • Driving improvements to increase efficiency, scalability, and compliance readiness
  • Leading credentialing strategy for new contract stand-up, including requirements gathering and implementation
  • Partnering with Program Managers, CORs, and stakeholders to define credentialing workflows
  • Managing the end-to-end credentialing lifecycle, including onboarding, re-credentialing, ongoing maintenance and renewals, and offboarding
  • Ensuring all credentialing activities meet contractual SLAs and timelines
  • Leading credentialing-related onboarding requirements for new hires supporting government contracts
  • Coordinating with security officers and government clients to facilitate clearance initiation, adjudication tracking, and access provisioning for cleared personnel
  • Ensuring credentialing, training, and access processes are initiated prior to start and completed in alignment with contract requirements and timelines
  • Providing guidance to stakeholders and employees on credentialing requirements and timelines
  • Supporting workforce readiness through proactive credential tracking and issue resolution
  • Maintaining audit-ready documentation for all credentialing activities
  • Monitoring adherence to state, federal, and contract-specific requirements
  • Identifying risks, gaps, and inconsistencies and implementing corrective actions
  • Supporting internal and external audits and responding to compliance inquiries
  • Overseeing credentialing-related system access and ensuring compliance with contract requirements
  • Ensuring accurate and timely recordkeeping across credentialing systems
  • Leveraging systems and tools to improve visibility, tracking, and reporting

Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance OR ability to obtain and maintain one (required)
  • 5+ years of credentialing experience, including direct, hands-on experience in state and/or federal government contracting environments
  • Demonstrated experience executing credentialing workflows within government systems and portals
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal credentialing requirements and compliance expectations
  • Experience working in contract-driven environments with defined SLAs and timelines
  • Proven ability to develop and refine credentialing processes and SOPs
  • Experience supporting audits and maintaining compliant, audit-ready documentation
  • Experience coordinating clearance initiation and adjudication tracking for cleared personnel
  • Proficiency in HRIS platforms and credentialing systems
  • Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate across internal teams and external stakeholders including CORs and program leadership
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying risks and improvements
  • Ability to work independently, serve as an internal escalation point, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Compensation

$86,400 — $97,200 USD

Other requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to meet any other requirements for government contracts for which candidates are hired
