Title: Azure Data Lake / Modeling / Databricks Specialist Insurance

Location: Remote (Milwaukee, WI base)

POSITION OVERVIEW

• We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer / Specialist to join our AI & Data team supporting a major enterprise data platform transformation. This role sits at the critical intersection of technical data engineering and business domain knowledge, focusing on enterprise insurance data models and pipelines. You will lead end-to-end data migration, complex transformations, and Data Vault 2.0 architecture implementation.

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and implement Data Vault 2.0 models including Hubs, Links, Satellites, and related constructs for enterprise insurance data domains.
• Lead end-to-end data migration activities encompassing source analysis, schema mapping, data profiling, validation, and cutover planning.
• Develop robust data processing pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers of the Medallion architecture.
• Produce detailed source-to-target mappings (STTM) and transformation logic for complex insurance data including policies, claims, and financial data.
• Design and manage metadata artifacts including data dictionaries, lineage documentation, business glossaries, and schema definitions.
• Perform data quality assessments, identify data anomalies, and define remediation rules at source and transformation layers.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Medallion Architecture / Lakehouse Patterns (Bronze/Silver/Gold) (3+ years)

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• The ideal candidate is a seasoned Data Engineer with 5 to 8 years of deep expertise in data modeling and migration who excels in enterprise environments. They possess strong domain knowledge in insurance (policies, claims, financials) and thrive when translating complex business logic into scalable data pipeline architectures.

Job Responsibilities

• Architect and implement Data Vault 2.0 constructs (Hubs, Links, Satellites) across complex data environments.
• Build automated ETL/ELT pipelines leveraging Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers).
• Create detailed source-to-target mappings, schema definitions, and transformation logic for insurance policy, claims, and financial data.
• Perform data profiling, quality checks, and metadata management (lineage, data dictionaries).
