Job Description

Duties:

• Assist in the care of the surgical patient.
• Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
• He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
• He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
• Follows instructions of Physicians and RN closely, adhering to established hospital policies related to the Operating Room.
• Maintains a Safe Environment: Practices Standard Precautions at all times.
• Maintains a safe environment in accordance with hospital polices and regulatory agencies.

Skills:

• Must be able to push/pull/lift up to 35lbs.
• Must be able to tolerate long periods of sitting, standing and /or walking.
• Certified Surgical Technician required.

• The tech will also be required to fulfill tech duties when not in a surgical case.

• The tech would complete patient vitals, adult venipuncture, assisting labor and delivery staff with cleaning up patients post-delivery, restocking and setting up in patient rooms.

• The surgical tech must have labor & delivery room experience.

Educaiton:

• High School Graduate or GED.
• Graduate from an accredited program.

Shift:

• This is a day shift position 12 hr. position
• from 0700-1900 requiring weekend coverage.
• 36 hours/week
• 3 days a week
