Job Description

Outside Sales Territory Manager

San Francisco, CA

Catalyst is dedicated to changing the way students experience the process of taking tests and applying to college and graduate school. We employ the brightest, most experienced instructors, and we bring our innovative educational programs to students with patience, understanding, and a much-needed sprinkling of humor and creativity. (We're proud to be the only education company in America with an actual  New Yorker  cartoonist on our team.) We served over 25,000 paying students and 5,000 pro bono students in 2017, and we plan to greatly accelerate our growth in the coming years.

The Opportunity

As an Outside Sales Territory Manager, you'll be a key member of our national sales team by establishing relationships with districts, schools and organizations that could greatly benefit from our services. You'll promote Catalyst's test preparation and K-12 offerings to schools and communities where we have yet to establish partnerships, and foster revenue growth and brand visibility within regions where we've enjoyed a formal relationship for years. You'll be a vital part of our organization and mission by:

  • Identifying opportunities that are aligned with Catalyst's business aims and educational philosophy.
  • Serving as Catalyst's primary representative for dozens of schools, organizations, and contacts.
  • Ensuring the high quality of our programs for the individuals who matter most: students.

You'll be happy and successful in this position if you:

  • Excel at public speaking.
  • Find phrases like “100% YOY growth” borderline erotic.
  • Are self-motivated, with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Can author marketing materials that resonate with particular regions and customer segments.
  • Have charisma to burn and a missionary-like zeal for converting prospective partners into customers.
  • Can identify opportunities to leverage Catalyst's creative approach to test preparation and K-12 education.
  • Can identify and establish a rapport with key decision-makers.

Requirements

  • A four-year Bachelor's degree.
  • Outstanding public speaking and written communication skills.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in outside sales.
  • A current valid driver's license and ownership or unrestricted access to a reliable vehicle.

And bonus points if you:

  • Are knowledgeable about the for-profit education industry.
